You Win Some and You Lose Some...The NHL Trade Deadline Has Passed

osThe Bruins weren't busy at the deadline (at least not to the public eye) but they still managed to trade away the 8th pick in the 1997 draft (the same draft that Joe Thornton went 1st overall). Yes, it was none other than Sergei Samsanov, the Magical Muscovite! I like the guy and will miss him, but there was a big chance that the stingy Bruins management would not have given him any serious offers this summer.

So what did they get in return you ask??? Well they did all right for giving away an unrestricted free agent. The Bruins acquired former Boston College star Marty Reasoner, minor-leaguer Yan Stastny (remember him?), and a second-round pick in the 2006 Entry Draft. Reasoner will play either 3rd or 4th line centre and Mariusz Czerkawski (picked up on waivers) will play 2nd line winger most likely.
